FAQs

Your Questions Answered

Do I need a will or a trust in California?

Most California families benefit from a revocable living trust rather than a will alone, since a trust helps your loved ones avoid probate — a court process that can take a year or more and cost thousands of dollars. During your planning session, we’ll walk through your specific assets and family situation to recommend the right approach for you.

How much does estate planning cost in Ventura County?

Costs vary depending on the complexity of your estate, your family situation, and which planning tools you need (will, trust, power of attorney, guardianship documents, etc.). We offer a complimentary initial consultation to review your goals and provide clear, upfront pricing before any work begins.

What happens if I die without an estate plan in California?

Without a will or trust, California’s intestacy laws determine who inherits your assets — which may not reflect your actual wishes. Your family could also face a lengthy probate process and, if you have minor children, a court (not you) may decide who becomes their guardian.

Do you work with veterans on estate planning?

Yes. We offer dedicated support for veterans, including guidance on VA benefits, service-related planning concerns, and exclusive discounts for military families.

Do you serve clients outside of Ventura?

Yes. While our office is based in Ventura, we regularly work with clients throughout Southern California, including Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and surrounding counties.
